Upgrade Existing Tubing Lines to Make High Quality Bump and Double Bump Tubing

Single Bump Tubing:
Upgrade systems offered by others may have fancy displays and lots of glamour, but they are basically switching devices -- changing the parameters of the extrusion line according to some program the operator sets in.
To get an on-spec tube, using those systems,, the operator must set in 4 primary quantities:
- Air pressure for the bump
- Air pressure for the stem
- Line speed ratio for the bump.
- Line speed ratio for the stem.
The operator then makes a tube, measures it, adjusts the 4 parameters above, makes another sample, takes measurements, adjusts the 4 parameters makes another sample, measures it, adjusts the 4 parameters, etc.. etc., etc. Since all of the parameters interact on each other, this may take an hour or more. It's terribly time consuming! (Note: some systems don't change the air level but set it at an "optimum value". Either these vendors don't understand the nature of the bump tubing process, or they are assuming that you do not.
The Harrel Bump Tubing Upgrade
With the Harrel BUMP TUBETROL system, The operator simply sets in the specification values for product dimensions.:
- OD for the bump.
- OD for the stem.
- ID for the bump.
- ID for the stem.
He then sits back and has a cup of coffee while the system brings the line on to specification -- typically in 3 - 5 minutes!
That's all there is to it!
DOUBLE BUMP TUBING SYSTEMS
Double Bump Systems from Others
As far as is known, no other vendor is seriously marketing a system for close tolerance double bump tubing. It would be incredibly time consuming to get on specification and hold it there, because now there are not 4, but 6 quantities to be adjusted, all of them heavily interacting.
Double Bump Systems from Harrel.
With Harrel BUMP TUBETROL systems, getting double bump precision tubing on target is no more difficult than single bump tubing. The operator simply sets in 6 dimensions:
- Outside diamter of the first level.
- Inside diameter of the first level.
- Outside diameter of the second level.
- Inside diameter of the second level.
- Outside diameter of the third level.
- Inside diameter of the third level.
As before, he then sits back and has another cup of coffee while the system brings the line onto specification -- typically 5-7 minutes!
That's all there is to it!

- A precision melt pump upgrade system: Required to stabilize the throughput of the system to 0.1% or better, to allow close adherence to specifications. The 5%-10% throughput stability of an extruder alone is simply not stable enogh for precision tubing.
